{"id":6901,"date":"2019-03-29T16:00:38","date_gmt":"2019-03-29T15:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nowa.ank.gov.pl\/?page_id=6901"},"modified":"2019-07-23T13:33:19","modified_gmt":"2019-07-23T11:33:19","slug":"using-archives","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ank.gov.pl\/en\/what-we-do\/records-and-access\/using-archives\/","title":{"rendered":"Using archives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Archives in Krakow, just like other archives from the network of the State Archives, provides access to stored materials based on the <a href=\"http:\/\/prawo.sejm.gov.pl\/isap.nsf\/download.xsp\/WDU19830380173\/U\/D19830173Lj.pdf\">Law of 14 July 1983 concerning the national archival resources and archives<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In accordance with it, each person is allowed to access archival materials. This access may, however, be limited due to security reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>confidential and statutory-protected information,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>private wealth and personal data,<\/li>\n<li>the necessity to maintain the integrity of resources, in other words, due to conservation matters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, the regulatory bodies introduced the requirement that the following types of documentation may be accessed no earlier than:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>civil records \u2013 100 years from the closure of the register of births, 80 years for the registers of marriages and deaths,<\/li>\n<li>individual medical records \u2013 100 years from the last entry,<\/li>\n<li>notarial records and property ownership documentation \u2013 70 years from the last entry,<\/li>\n<li>court records and investigation proceedings \u2013 70 years from the judgement or end of the process,<\/li>\n<li>census \u2013 30 years from its creation,<\/li>\n<li>employment documentation \u2013 50 years from the cessation of the employment relation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These restrictions are not applicable if the interested party can present the legal right to access this documentation.
